I'm Obsessed!

By faith we see the hand of God
In the light of creation's grand design
In the lives of those who prove His faithfulness
Who walk by faith and not by sight

By faith our fathers roamed the earth
With the power of His promise in their hearts
Of a holy city built by God's own hand
A place where peace and justice reign

We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight

By faith the prophets saw a day
When the longed-for Messiah would appear
With the power to break the chains of sin and death
And rise triumphant from the grave

By faith the church was called to go
In the power of the Spirit to the lost
To deliver captives and to preach good news
In every corner of the earth

We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight

By faith this mountain shall be moved
And the power of the gospel shall prevail
For we know in Christ all things are possible
For all who call upon His name

We will stand as children of the promise
We will fix our eyes on Him our soul's reward
Till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight

sometimes life needs meaning

Sooooo, the last few weeks have been awesome and horrible. Lots of good stuff going on (I freakin won districts!!), lots of bad stuff. I suppose the last weeks have been spent in a little pit. A spiritual crisis? A gigantic spiritual melt down? Probably both. But, nevermind about that, this post is about music. I love listening to music, as most teenagers do...soooo, here is my little right here, right now music listen. Most of this has been recommended to me, so it should give you an idea of what kind of stuff is going on in my life.

  • In Christ Alone, Keith and Kristyn Getty
  • Mighty to Save, Hillsong
  • From the Inside Out, Hillsong
  • Here is Our King, David Crowder Band
  • Hosanna, Hillsong
  • I am Yours (Who am I?), Casting Crowns
  • At the Cross, Hillsong
  • Life Song, Casting Crowns
  • Oceans will part, Hillsong
  • Adonai, Hillsong
  • None but Jesus, Hillsong
  • Overture to Midsummer's Night Dream

Casting Crowns, Hillsong, a single David Crowder, a single Getty and an Overture. It happens.

Chow.

Don't sit at the bottom

"There he goes-a hero. A savior to the world
There he stands with scars in his hands.
With love he gave his life so we could be free.
The savior of the world."

Sometimes, despite where we are in our Christian walk, we just need to go back to the basics, cry about it for a while and just let it touch us. Hero by Abandon did just that for me.

In Christ Alone

"In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand."

On connections

I went to starbucks tonight to work on my thesis. Honestly, there is no better way to relieve my thesis stress than a nice yummy cup of hot caramel apple spice. Yuuuuummmmy! Anyways, as I was sitting in starbucks, trying to work on my thesis, I was a little distracted by the other people sitting around me. In front of me, there was a lady, probably late thirties to mid forties. She had a cup of coffee and was talking on the phone. She was talking to somebody about her child (?) who was obviously in highschool. I was sad for her. She was distressed and worried about her kid (I didn't catch why...but thats not the point...). Next to me, there was a man and a woman talking about finances. The woman was a little upset at times. She kept talking about how she just wanted to have a little money to be able to decorate her home. At least thats what I heard. I felt bad for them, too. And then there was me, quite distressed about my thesis and the 100 notecards due friday (*cries*).

This situation made me think of the song Piano Man by Billy Joel. Its like we had all come into starbucks for a moment's peace. I was in there to study in quiet, the man and woman were in there to talk over a cup of coffee and get some things sorted out and the other woman was in there to just sit back and relax. We weren't in there to hear a piano man...maybe we were just in there to hear nothing . Maybe we were just in there to forget about life for a while . Who knows.

"It's a pretty good crowd for a Saturday
And the manager gives me a smile
'Cause he knows that it's me they've been comin' to see
To forget about their life for a while"

MLIA

The other day, my cousins, my brother and I were at a hotel. We were watching a dvd on my laptop while my cousin was in the bathroom. My brother then yells, "The computer's frozen!" My cousin then yells back, "Then turn the heater on!" I love my family. MLIA

Yes, I read mlia.

My life is pretty average today.

Ramblings.

Today was the first rehearsal for the BSU highschool honor band. I did it last year and it was soooo much fun. Our conductor was awesome. My best memories from it are going out to eat and carpooling with Bekka, Kristin and Jonathan and this one brass player asking the conductor in the middle of rehearsal if he could give him a hug. It was pretty funny.

ALL-NORTHWEST IS IN 20 days!!!! I seriously CANNOT wait.

I've been reading about the Challenger Space shuttle. My teacher was telling us about it today. I watched the videos of it exploding, but I also watch the video of the VIP spectators watching it. This group of people included the parents of the 7 crew memebers. It was heartbreaking. I can't even imagine. I kept thinking about the crew members. What were they thinking while they were in the shuttle? Were they scared? Excited? Did they have any doubts or regrets about what they were doing? Did they know they were going to die or did they die before they even knew what happened? Think about all those little kids that were watching their teacher go up into space. They are all probably in their thirties now. That moment, 25 years ago, must be a moment imprinted on their minds forever.

I gotta go to bed. Pronto.
